OPERATIONAL DEFINITIONS

Last Communication Date (MM/DD/YYYY HH:MI:SS AM/PM UTC): This is the last time the device communicated to Xerox.   Shown in UTC (previously GMT). 

 

 

 

UTC uses 24 hr time.  Goto http://www.timeanddate.com/time/map/ to see the offset for the device location.  It may need to be converted to a 12 hr time.

Communication Type: Indicates the Types of communication from Device

 

a)

Device Last Upload Date:

 

 

 

This may be shown for each type of device communication, the last date/time when the device and/or device manager last uploaded/pushed device data to Xerox. 

 

The term “Upload”, also known as a “Push”, can consist of meters, supplies, and/or device diagnostic information within the communication.

 

 

b)

Device Last Sync Date:

 

 

 

The last time a Device communicated via a sync communication type with Xerox using a device direct method.

 

Sync: A communication type, like a ping, that is a synchronization of a device with the Xerox communication systems – this may include operational instructions such as “upgrade software’, but does not contain device upload information.

Communication Method:  Indicates whether the communication was directly from a device or via a Device Manager.

 

 

a)

Device Direct:

 

 

 

A communication method to Xerox, directly from a device.

 

 

b)

Device Manager: Formerly PROXY

 

 

 

 A communication method to Xerox, that is not directly from a device, but from a software tool that resides at the customer site.  It collects device information from 1 or more devices and sends this device data to Xerox   (i.e.XDA-Lite).  NOTE: It does not send any device diagnostic data used for remote support.

Publisher ID: The identification of the Device Manager that Communicated to Xerox. 

 

 

a)

MAC ID consists of 12 characters (6 groups of two hexadecimal digits). Example: MAC: 001CC4205A36.

 

 

b)

GUID consists of 32 hexadecimal digits separated by dashes (-), thus totaling 36 characters (with 4 dashes). Example GUID: 6c094864-801a-4f12-a1fe-476680ebb9b8
